Description:
This document is intended to assist in identifying how to connect to cellular connection via the Skylight app. Skylight app uses a Profile setting that has an APN (Access Point Name) which we get from the cellular company provider and which can be used for the DVR device to have 3G/4G/LTE connection.
An Access Point Name (APN) is the name of a gateway between a GSM, GPRS, 3G or 4G mobile network and another computer network, frequently the public Internet.
Issue:
We will use the following troubleshooting steps when:
- Unable to connect to mobile using TightVNC
- Dispatcher/IT Team of customer unable to send routes to particular trucks with those units
- Unable to see trucks on the reports
Resolution:
- Exit from the WasteApp.
- Connect to Skylight app which is on the main Start screen (Step 1).
- Check the Skylight status. You might need to press the Connect button (Step 2.
- If it doesn’t connect, make sure it’s not connected, then go to Settings (Step 3) > Profiles (Step 4).
- Open the profile you see (Step 5). Generally, you will have a profile named PROFILE 3 which comes default with FleetMind devices. Click it to open Profile Options.
- Check that your Access Point Name (APN) is correct. If the APN is wrong then Mobile will not connect to the network. NOTE: If you don’t know which APN you are supposed to have, confirm it with FleetMind Customer support.
- To correct the APN:
- Press APN in profiles (Step 6) and edit the APN.
- Press Apply and then OK to save that Profile (Step 7).
In case if you need the keyboard, click the On-Screen Keyboard shortcut :
- Go back to Skylight and press Connect (Step 2).
- To test the connection, open the Internet Explorer browser to go on the web, e.g. Google.com:
- Save the changes you made as follows: go to Control Panel > EWF Folder > EWF Commit – Apply – Restart.
- The computer will restart and WasteApp will automatically open.
