Redacting Audio Elements

Sometimes, there might be sounds and speech (often names or explicit language) that might need to be redacted. Depending on what you specified at the time of setting redaction properties , the audio is either beeped or silenced.


To redact audio:

  1. Make sure you performed all the steps described in Pre-redaction Tasks.
  2. If needed, play the video to determine the elements that need to be redacted.
  3. Let the video play. Listen to the audio, and pinpoint the time at which the audio you want to redact is first heard.
  4. Click Redact Audio.
  1. When two playheads with a pre-selected duration of 2 seconds appear beneath the timeline, use them to select the duration for which you want the audio redacted. Drag the playheads to do so.

When the audio redaction completes, an audio element is listed in the Audio Elements for Redaction pane.

After the redaction operation completes,  preview the redacted audio elements, by clicking the Preview Redaction icon. The icon looks like this:
