This is a high-level sequence of the steps you need to perform in order to redact videos. However, not all steps are necessary. For example, you could skip step 5 or step 7, if you do not see any reason to edit redacted elements. While redacting videos, perform the steps you feel are essential.

  1. Ensure that you are using the latest version of Evidence Manager. Also, if you are past the trial period, make sure that you activated the Redaction add-on feature.
  2. Ensure that you set up redaction properties within Evidence Manager.
  3. Extract or save a video as an MP4 file. This creates a local copy of the video that you want to redact.
  4. Redact the sensitive imagery within the video.
    • Use Redact Faces to have Evidence Manager automatically detect faces and redact them for the duration you specify.
    • Use Auto Track to draw areas within the video, and then redact them for the duration you specify.
    • Use Static to draw areas within the video, and have them redacted only at a particular point in the timeline.
    • Use Live Track to draw areas, and plot the path along which they will be redacted.
  5. Edit video portions that you previously redacted, if necessary.
  6. Redact audio, if needed.
  7. Edit the redacted audio, if needed.
  8. Examine the result of the redaction. Save the redacted video.
