Overview

You can search for a live or a playback video in the following ways:

  • By selecting a precise date and time from the calendar menu. This method allows you to search a video excerpt playing from: a workstation, a docking station, a connected device, or an actual physical location. When you open the calendar, the days in the calendar month that have periods of video are highlighted.
  • By using the timeline to pinpoint the date and time a video was recorded. This method allows you to search a video excerpt, provided that the video portion you select is already recorded.
  • By using alarms and events as filters. This method allows you to search for complete video files that contain alarms and filters.

Procedure Using the Calendar

To search for a video using the calendar:

  1. Log in to Evidence Manager.
  2. Open a video. For instructions, see Opening Videos.
  3. Click the calendar icon at the bottom-right corner of the video display.
  4. On the Go to date time window, look for days that are highlighted. For example, “8” appears in highlights.
  5. Set a date and Start Time.
  1. Click OK to start the search.

Evidence Manager starts playing the specific piece of video.

Procedure Using the Timeline

To use the timeline to search for a video:

  1. Log in to Evidence Manager.
  2. Open a live or recorded video. For instructions, see Opening Videos. If you open a live video, you can only select a time range for parts of video that are already recorded.
  3. Hover the cursor over the timeline.
  4. When the range selection playheads appear, adjust their position to select a time range.
  5. Use the playhead (blue triangle icon) to seek and play the video.

Procedure Using Events and Alarms

Evidence Manager allows you to use alarms, events, and input signals as filters while searching for videos recorded by a specific device. Alarms and events are triggered by the device. An example of an event is a medical emergency on the bus. Alarms are more specialized events, such as a scuffle inside the vehicle or an accident. Events and alarms are typically configured from the on-screen display of a device. Inputs are metrics that are recorded by devices. For example, acceleration. Inputs are both custom, and available by default in devices.

You can use events, alarms, and inputs to search for videos within Evidence Manager.

To search for a video using events and alarms:

  1. Log in to Evidence Manager.
  2. Search for a video from a device:
    1. In the left pane, expand Devices, right-click the device of your choice, and click Connect.
    2. Click Search.
  3. Search for a video from a docking station:
    1. Expand the Docking Stations folder.
    2. (Seon devices only) right-click the docking station, and click Mount.
    3. Right-click the docking station of your choice, and click Search. The search window appears.
