Depot Manager Tutorial 14:

Configuring Email Settings

Overview

Before Depot Manager can send emails, you must configure the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) settings. There are two places where you can configure these settings: for the central server, and for individual depots.

After you have configured the SMTP settings, the depot can automatically send emails as a result of triggers and report settings.

Triggers can include the following:

  • The master server is unreachable.
  • Video download status (start, on completion, on failure)
  • Diagnostic/system issues
  • Video storage issues
  • Camera checks

See Creating Evidence Reports and Creating Maintenance Reports for more about reports.

Configuring General SMTP Settings for the System

These settings are for the general email (SMTP) settings for all servers.

  1. Click Administration > Settings to open the General System Settings window.
  2. Type an Administrator email address in the Administrator Email field. This is the email address that will be used to send emails.
  3. Enter a Server name, a Port number, a User Name, and a Password.
  4. Select the checkbox next to SSL to enable it. SSL provides a secure encrypted link between a web server and a browser.
  5. Enter an email address, then click Test Email to test the email settings.
  6. Click Save if the email test is successful, meaning that the settings are correct.

Configuring SMTP Settings for an Individual Depot

Configure these SMTP settings only if you require these depot email settings to be different than the General SMTP settings.

  1. Click Administration > Depots > SMTP to open the SMTP tab.
  2. Enter an administrator email address, a server name, a port number, a user name, and a password.
  3. Select the checkbox next to SSL to enable it. SSL provides a secure encrypted link between a web server and a browser.
  4. Enter an email address, then click Test Email to test the email settings.
  5. Click Save if the email test is successful, meaning that the settings are correct.
