Configure Storage Settings

The Video Storage settings for Depots allows you to configure behaviors for both the primary and secondary storage settings. These settings are important as they direct Depot Manager to automatically free up disk space when your disks are full. You can also configure email settings to alert people of changes in storage status.

  1. Click Administration > Depots to open the Depots window.
  1. Configure Disk Space Notification settings. These settings allow you to add the email addresses for people who should be notified when a specified minimum amount of free disk space is reached.
    1. For both the primary and secondary storage, enter the minimum disk space, in GB, that triggers an email notification.
    2. Enter email addresses, separated by commas, in the Email notification list for the people who should receive a notification when the minimum disk space is reached for the primary and/or secondary storage.
  1. Configure the Move to Secondary Storage settings. With these settings, you can configure Depot Manager to automatically free up disk space when a minimum of free space remains on the primary storage disk. You can configure how little free space must remain on the disk when Depot Manager automatically starts transferring data, and how much data is automatically transferred to the secondary storage disk. You can also add email addresses of people who should be notified when data is being moved to secondary storage.
    1. Enter under When free disk space is less than the minimum GB of free space left in primary storage that triggers Depot Manager to transfer data to the secondary storage disk.
    2. Enter under Move up to the maximum amount of data, in GB, to be moved to secondary storage disk.
    3. Enter email addresses, separated by commas, in the Email notification list for the people who should receive a notification when Depot Manager moves data to secondary storage.
  2. Configure the Delete Data settings. With these settings, you can configure Depot Manager to automatically free up disk space when a minimum of free disk space remains on the primary storage disk. You can configure how little free space must remain on the disk when Depot Manager automatically starts deleting data, and how much free space must be freed to stop Depot Manager from automatically deleting data.
    1. Enter under When free disk space is less than the minimum GB of free space left in primary storage that triggers Depot Manager to delete data from the primary storage disk.
    2. Enter under Stop when free space is greater than the minimum GB of recovered free space on the primary storage that triggers Depot Manager to stop deleting data.
    3. Enter email addresses, separated by commas, in the Email notification list for the people who should receive a notification when Depot Manager the storage disk reaches the specified threshold.
  1. Click Save.
